Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other healthcare products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. Pharmaceutical technician programs usually provide the student with the basic knowledge of and practice in pharmacy calculations, and drug distribution systems. Pharmacology, pharmaceutical, and medical terminology will be covered by most curriculums. Pharmaceutical programs also emphasize theory, as well as hands-on practice.
